Clonan Wicks-Staley Post earns top seed for American Legion baseball

Clonan Wicks-Staley Post is the top seed for the eight-team District V American Legion Baseball Championships beginning Monday.

Clonan Wicks-Staley shares an 11-3 record with No. 2 Smith Post and third-seeded Fort Schuyler.

CW-S opens the double-elimination tournament hosting No. 8 Roberts (8-7) at 4:30 p.m. at Sauquoit Valley High School.

Smith Post hosts No. 7 Sherrill Post (8-6) at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the old Rome Free Academy. Fort Schuyler hosts No. 6 Moran Sylvan Beach (8-6) at 4:30 at Murnane Field at Donovan Stadium in Utica.

Fourth-seeded New Hartford (10-4) hosts No. 5 Whitestown Post (8-6) at 4:30 p.m. Monday at New Hartford High School.

The higher-seeded teams host games at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The tournament moves to Murnane Field beginning Wednesday.?
