PISE and GVSHF Host 4th Annual Family Sport & Recreation Festival Day-long event to include over 30 Activities
(Victoria, BC ? April 30, 2013) The Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) and the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame will host the 4th Annual Island Savings Family Sport & Recreation Festival on Saturday May 4 from 11 am ? 4 pm. The festival, which is a free, one-day interactive sports and recreation expo for the family, will be at PISE, located on Camosun College?s Interurban campus.
The festival will feature over 30 sport and recreation activities and demonstrations for the whole family, and will be a great way to introduce kids and youths to sport and recreation opportunities. Activities include riding the AdrenaLINE Zipline, orienteering, rock climbing, rugby, tennis, soccer, Taekwondo, adapted sports and sample fitness classes. Kids will also be able to learn about Physical Literacy ? the ABCs of movement, and there will be a mascot dance-off!
?The primary purpose of the festival is to inspire families to be more active, and to encourage youngsters to be more physically literate by getting involved in sports and recreational activities,? says Andrea Carey, PISE?s Director of Operations and Community Engagement. ?It is a chance for kids to be introduced to new opportunities at the club and community level, and for parents to learn more about keeping their kids engaged in healthy activities.?
In conjunction with the festival, PISE is offering the opportunity to win a free summer camp ? go to www.piseworld.com/events to see how. There is also an opportunity to enter a draw for a fabulous family activity package at the Festival.
