Experts agree, women and men should not tolerate an abusive spouse. This should be an important part of relationships throughout Tennessee, just in case a partner turns violent without any expectations. In many cases, acts of domestic violence are predictable and, if they occur, the victim should begin considering her or his options of moving on and away from the abuser.
Advocates against domestic violence are apparent in most areas throughout the country and high-profile cases of domestic abuse do occur. In 2009, singer Rihanna was allegedly accosted by her boyfriend at the time, Chris Brown. The star couple planned to head to the Grammy Awards where Rihanna was scheduled to perform. That performance was cancelled and later, images surfaced of her beaten. Those pictures were taken by the authorities.
Many people rallied behind the female singer when she chose to leave Brown, but in an upcoming interview, some former supporters may be persuaded to feel differently. According to reports, the interview with Oprah Winfrey will show Rihanna speaking about how she misses Brown from time to time and that he made a mistake and needed help.
Some advocates against domestic violence are worried about the potential effects this could have on those that are currently part of abusive relationships or may be in the future. Some people look to those in the spotlight-particularly at their words and actions-to determine what is right if they are stuck in a similar situation.
Regardless of how Rihanna is portrayed, she did leave her abuser and this action should speak louder than any words three years after the event. If you are being abused by your spouse, be sure to consider taking legal action to keep you safe. If any children are involved, authorities will be sure to take that into consideration. In some of these situations, the relationship ends in divorce and child custody is often given to the victim rather than the abuser.
